Clinical Psychologist – Autism Specialist
Salary: Band 7/8a on NHS AfC (dependent on skills/experience)

Part Time – 2-3 days a week
Position to commence October 2018

An exciting, unique opportunity has arisen for a qualified and experienced Clinical Psychologist with a passionate interest in supporting children with autism, to complement our current therapy team.

You will be responsible for supporting autism practice across three day school provisions, providing clinical supervision to the assistant psychologists and support and advice to the schools’ behaviour teams. It is essential that applicants have experience of working with children and young people with autism and related disorders. Applicants must be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council.

The role involves:

  • Being part of a dynamic and autism focused multi –disciplinary team
  • Supporting the educational needs of 150 young people with ASD across three highly specialist provisions
  • Responsibility for a strong ethos of Positive Behaviour Support and pupil wellbeing across both schools
  • Working as part of a senior therapy team including senior SALT and Senior OT to develop autism specific approaches and strategies across the schools
  • Supporting the psychologists and behaviour teams in order that they can minimise the impact of each pupil’s autism and maximise their potential for future adult life

Parent Liaison Officer

Salary £23,128.55 – £27,253.00 pro rata per annum dependent on skills/experience

Monday to Friday 9.00am to 5.30pm, during term time only. Position to commence as soon as possible

Are you a parent or carer of a child with autism or a professional with experience in supporting families who have a child with autism and/or special educational needs? Finding the right school for a child with autism can be very challenging for parents. We believe that in order to make an informed choice for their child, parents need sensible, informative and supportive advice.

We are looking for a skilled individual who can offer empathetic support to families who enquire about a prospective placement at either Eagle House School. Initial contact will be via the Group website, telephone or email and involve talking to parents, arranging school visits, organising new parent open days as well as sign posting parents to relevant services. The parent liaison officer will offer support throughout the application process and will work directly with the Group Admissions Manager to ensure that parents receive a friendly, supportive and seemless service.

We are keen to find someone who is energetic, open minded, non-judgemental and has the right attitude to support parents, wherever they are in their very individual journey with their child. You will need to have excellent verbal, literacy and written communication skills, together with experience in ICT including MS Office. Experience and knowledge of the systems that support children with SEN are therefore essential as is a knowledge and understanding of part 3 of the Children and Families Act 2014.

You will need to be able to provide proactive support to parents from initial enquiry, right through to their child’s admission maintaining accurate information on our School Information Management System.

As our Parent Liaison Officer you will:

 Use your initiative when responding to enquires from parents to proactively support them

 Engage parents positively by setting up, marketing and maintaining Open Days and visits, and by providing information, training and workshop sessions etc.

 Demonstrate a keen interest in child development and want to help the team grow public awareness of our service and its impact.

 Have experience of working with schools and families, in formal and informal situations.

 Have knowledge of relevant legislation, guidelines, procedures and policies.

 Have knowledge of relevant services and activity structures for young people, ideally including local contacts

Assistant Psychologist (South London)

(Fixed term/permanent contract available)

Starting salary £22,661– £25,935 per annum including London weighting, depending on experience (equivalent to NHS AfC Band 4)

We are looking for an Assistant Psychologist to join our in-house Curriculum Access Team (CA Team) based across two sites, Eagle House School (Sutton) and Eagle House 6th Form (Carshalton). You will be a member of this dedicated team working alongside Speech & Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Assistant Behaviour Support Specialist and another Assistant Psychologist. We are looking for an individual who will be able to provide pupils, parents and staff with a comprehensive range of support, advice and guidance in relation to promoting positive behaviour and well-being. We have developed our own unique approach to teaching and learning, designed specifically for children and young people on the autistic spectrum. ‘The Eagle House Approach’ is based on a combination of best practice, experience, and innovation.

The successful candidate will work with staff and pupils across the schools as well as collaborate with families and external agencies to carry out assessments, interventions, monitor and report on progress and participate in in-service training.

Our ideal candidate will have a minimum requirement of a Psychology Degree and have worked with individuals with autism and complex needs. Additional training and experience in mental health will be highly regarded.

The hours of work will be 37.5 per week, Monday to Friday 8.15am to 4.15pm, 52 weeks per year.

Learning Support Assistants (South London)

Salary £15,500 to £17,500 per annum pro rata (Dependent on skills and experience)

The position will involve:

  • Supporting Class teachers to offer a broad-based, appropriate curriculum
  • Assisting with the supervision of students outside of classroom activities e.g. meal times and recreation times

We are looking for Learning Support Assistants who have:

  • an understanding of/interest in autism
  • experience of working with children or vulnerable adults in an education or care setting
  • an ability to work as part of a team and to use their initiative to support and implement the Eagle House approach to helping pupils who have a range of needs associated with having autism
  • a calm, patient manner and ability to react positively to extreme levels of behaviour
  • GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English and Maths

Eagle House School (Sutton) is an independent specialist co-educational day school providing secondary year’s education for learners, aged 11 to 19 years with an autism spectrum disorder (including Aspergers syndrome) and associated social and communication difficulties. Many of our learners have complex needs and behaviour associated with their autism.
