Start date – January 2021 on a fixed term contract until Easter 2021 (with potential to move to a permanent contract)

Salary £16,000 to £18,000 per annum pro rata (Dependent on skills and experience)

Eagle House School (Mitcham) is an independent specialist co-educational day school providing primary and early year’s education for learners, aged 4 to 11 years with an autism spectrum disorder (including Aspergers syndrome) and associated social and communication difficulties. Many of our learners have complex needs and behaviour associated with their autism.

Our school currently has a position for resilient Early Years Learning Support Assistant. We are therefore currently seeking a reliable, hard -working and flexible Learning Support Assistant to join our established specialist autism primary school.

The position will involve:

  • Supporting Class teachers to offer a broad-based, appropriate curriculum
  • Working in our Early Years Team
  • Assisting with the supervision of children outside of classroom activities e.g. meal times and recreation times 

We are looking for Learning Support Assistants who have:

  • an understanding of/interest in autism
  • experience of working with children in an early years education or setting
  • knowledge of Applied Behaviour Analysis
  • an ability to work as part of a team and to use their initiative to support and implement the Eagle House approach to helping pupils who have a range of needs associated with having autism
  • a passion for supporting children to help them manage their challenging behaviours and an ability to stay very calm in challenging situations
  • GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English and Maths

Hours will be Monday to Thursday 8.15am to 4.00pm and Friday 8.15am to 3.30pm, during term time only.

The successful candidate will automatically be enrolled onto our private Health Care Plan.

Speech & Language Therapist

Band 5/6 (Salary dependent on position and experience)

Full time with Term time plus 4 weeks per annum

Position to commence: as soon as available 

Eagle House School (Mitcham) is an independent specialist day school for young people aged 4 to 11 years with an autism spectrum disorder, Asperger’s syndrome and associated social & communication difficulties.

We are currently seeking a Band 5/6 Speech and Language Therapist wishing to work in a school setting, to join our multi-disciplinary team of professionals, including speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, behaviour support specialists and assistant psychologists. You will be required to work on a full time basis (8.15am to 4.15pm, 5 days a week) plus four weeks during the school holidays. Supervision and opportunities for CPD will be provided and based on annual appraisal reviews.

Main responsibilities will involve:

  • Assessment and intervention planning
  • Group and individual therapy as required
  • Working within classes and providing consultative support as part of the multi-disciplinary team
  • Development and implementation of training for staff and other professionals
  • Curriculum development
  • Report writing and record keeping

 We are looking for Speech & Language Therapist who are:

  • Highly motivated, passionate, dynamic and flexible
  • Has relevant experience of working with young people with special needs, including autism spectrum disorder, Asperger’s syndrome and Social, emotional and mental health need is desirable
  • Has highly developed communication and interpersonal skills
  • Is RCSLT and HCPC registered
  • Hold a Bachelors or Masters Degree in Speech and Language Therapy.

Eagle House School, Mitcham is a ‘good’ (Ofsted Nov 2019) broad spectrum special school for pupils aged from 4 to 12 years who have a diagnosis of Autism or Asperger Syndrome.
