Julia Pithouse, Chief Executive of Eagle House Group

Julia formally worked in a senior Local Government position but her career took a different path when both of her children were diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder within a week of each other.

Devastated by the news, she soon realised that in order to cope, she would need to learn as much as she could about autism and became actively involved within the UK autism sector some twenty years ago when there was very little support for families. She home educated her children for a period and supported hundreds of other families to do the same by helping to establish a charitable organisation delivering home-based early intervention programmes for children with autism.

Julia has been instrumental in campaigning for better services for children and adults with autism; she has been the trustee of two national charities; and through her training and presentations, has worked hard to raise autism awareness across the UK and overseas.

She has held the post of Family Services Manager with an autism services charity, has been a national Autism Trainer and is currently the CEO of Eagle House Group of schools.

As a parent herself, she is able to empathise with the anxiety and stress that living with autism brings. She therefore places emphasis on providing a high level of support for not only our Eagle House families, but also for families who are looking for help and direction for their child who may be in a mainstream setting.

“Autism is such a stressful journey for any family to navigate and it is exhausting to cope with the constant unpredictability it brings, our schools therefore provide a nurturing and supportive haven for our children and our families alike”.
