Irena Sevsek, Assistant Head (Independence)

Irena has been teaching in Special Education for the last 17 years working in primary, secondary and Post 16 departments, with SLD, PMLD and ASD pupils.

She feels passionately about inspiring enthusiasm for learning, creativity and developing independence. She said “It is incredibly satisfying to see our pupils taking their learning out of the classroom to their home environment and their local community”.

As well as her teaching role, Irena gives yoga sessions at the school. “I enjoy seeing the pupils developing their confidence, participation, coordination, strength and their inner calm”.

At present, Irena teaches a class of KS3 pupils offering them a broad curriculum, where they can apply their strengths and interests, while developing their personal and social skills.

“I am enjoying my role as Assistant Head, where my focus is to promote independence across the school, preparing our pupils for their future so that they can achieve their full potential as adults”.
